Our President, Judge Samuel S. Chung
Judge Samuel S. Chung serves as the current president of the Superior Court Judges' Association (SCJA), from 2023-2024. Prior to his current term as the president, Judge Chung served as the president-elect, and as a trustee representing King County to the SCJA.
Judge Chung is a judge on the King County Superior Court, where he has served since being first appointed by Governor Jay Inslee in 2014. Over the years, he has served in different judicial rotations, presiding over civil, criminal, family law, dependency and juvenile matters.
Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Chung worked in private practice focusing on commercial litigation.
Judge Chung was born in Seoul, Korea, and moved to the US when he was 12 years old with his family. He graduated from Columbia University and the George Washington University Law School.
